Why do people use the Food Bank?

A variety of people use the food banks of Canada. Some have just moved from another area and are looking for work or waiting on that first pay cheque. Some people are waiting to get their first unemployment cheque because they've been laid off for the season, or they're awaiting the seasonal changes for work. Some people, especially seniors and the disabled, live on a limited budget. One of their main costs, rent, takes up most of their money and they don't have enough for food.

48% of our food bank clients are under the age of 17. Seniors, students, the disabled and low-income workers make up a sizeable percentage of our clientele as well.
